Voters in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean region and globally supporting Soca Artiste Ian Alvarez “Bunji Garlin” for the MTV IGGY Award have been unable to cast their vote for over 5 hours.
Without any official update from MTV IGGY to explain the 'technical difficulty' fans have been saying that the extended time allotted by MTV’s IGGY Awards favoured Korea’s G-Dragon over the last 12 hours while the Caribbean slept since Bunji’s numbers slipped.
Bunji’s “Differentology” has been enjoying a commanding share of votes up to late last night.
Up to the time of our last publication at 5:40 pm T&T time the vote count was as follows:
Bunji Garlin 86.56%
By early Saturday morning T&T nationals and regional fans observed a huge shift in the votes and took to social media sites, Twitter and Facebook posting their complaints since the site appeared to have crashed.
Many have been raising suspicions since the MTV Iggy promised that it would declare the vote a draw if the site crashes. The MTV Iggy in an update stated: “In the interest of genuine fairness and in consideration of the overwhelming support on both sides we have decided to extend the poll for a full 24 hours to account for time differences. The poll will now close at 11am EST Dec. 21. This is a final amendment. If the poll crashes or there are any technical difficulties, it will be declared a draw.”
Up to one hour before the extended deadline, the votes were neck-and-neck. The shift in the voting has for the first time positioned “Bunji” in the minority.
Bunji Garlin 48.96% G-Dragon 51.04%
